I’ll admit it. I like Asia. A lot. Well, at least until John Wetton quit. I actually wanted to see them in New Mexico a long long time ago (over 20 years), but they cancelled the concert at the last minute to do “MTV’s Asia in Asia” concert, which sucked, because John Wetton quit before the concert and they had Greg Lake doing the vocals. Asia songs were not written for Greg Lake, and it showed.

During my junior and senior years in high school, I bought tons of Asia albums, 45s, buttons, anything I could find. Asia eventually petered out, with Geoff Downes touring with John Payne and releasing increasingly bad albums. Various reunions always seemed to be aborted at the last minute, as well.

Anyhow, the original four members of Asia have reunited for a tour. And I’m going. Yay! Of course, with my luck, they’ll start the in-fighting right before the concert….
